Raspberry oil is yielded either via cold pressed or solvent extracted from red raspberry seeds, a byproduct of raspberry juice industries. The oil is rich in fatty acids and vitamins with antioxidant and anti inflammation benefits.
The antioxidant property of raspberry seed oil is due to high vitamin E. A research conducted by some researcher in Canada, France and China who extracted raspberry oil from Rubus idaeus L., reported high content of tocopherols. The composition (in mg/100 g) is: alpha-tocopherol 71; gamma-tocopherol 272; delta-tocopherol 17.4, and total vitamin E equivalent of 97. Such high vitamin E may contribute to its slow oxidation, thus make the oil stable during storage/shelf time.
The anti inflammation property of raspberry seed oil is the main reason to utilise this oil into cosmetic and skincare products to prevent rash, eczema, and skin irritations. In personal care products, this oil is used in toothpaste, cream, shampoo, or antiperspirant. Compared to other vegetable oil such as grapeseed oil, avocado oil, or hazelnut, the anti inflammation property of raspberry seed is superior. This anti inflammation may attribute to its high fatty acids content, i.e. alpha-linoleic, linoleic and oleic acids content, to comprise 96% of total fatty acids. The fatty acids are known to improve skin regeneration.
Other than that, raspberry seed oil contains phospholipid that acts also as antioxidation to increase its stability to prolong its storage/shelf life, and phytosterol that beneficial for skin moisture and skin repair.
Armed by those benefits, ELENVI Skin Care utilises this oil in the ingredients of “SUPER FRUIT” Light Moisture Cream for Face & Body”; a gentle & lightweight moisturiser for all skin type to keep the skin looks supple and moist. This moisturiser is for all seasons, including winter. Available offline or online.
